Band: Afgrund The Swedish band Afgrund was formed in 2006 by (ex-) members of e.g. Penile Suffocation, Enemy Is Us and 21 Lucifers. In mean time, the band released a split with Relevant Few, shortly after followed by the debut studio album, Svarta Dagar (both released in 2007 through Lifestage). Vid Helvetets Grindar lasts for less than half an hour (that’s why it will be considered a mini-album by me) and mainly continues where Svarta Dagar ended. More specific this means that the band combines sludgy Groove, energetic Grindcore, brutal Death Metal and moshing Punk with a fat old school approach. In conclusion you can pretend that the total lack of being original may fuck up your thrashed brain, yet the overall quality (compositions + performance, sound + production etc) might float just above the average grey masses. 75/100 Ivan Tibos. |
