Band: Trigger The Bloodshed Trigger The Bloodshed were formed two and a half year ago in the U.K., one of the leading countries when it comes to Grindcore and grinding Death Metal. I wasn’t that enthusiastic at all about the former full length, Purgation, but the step forward this band made this time is enormous! Basically, The Great Depression goes on in the vein of the debut album, but the whole sounds much more professional this time. Trigger The Bloodshed’s Grindcore still is inspired by bands as (early) Napalm Death or Cannibal Corpse, but this time several tracks reach the level of these bands - which certainly wasn’t the case, ever, on the former recording. The injection of (technical) Death Metal with both an American and English approach, is more important this time, and the blasting explosions are better-thought and more mature. Most of the time, the tempo varies from ultra-fast to lightning-fast, but the combination with some slower parts (also more present, and more over-thought, than before) comes with a natural flair, which I do appreciate. Seriously, I am extremely pleased by the (unexpected) progression this band made, and I’m sure The Great Depression will be admired by fans of (almost) everything between, let’s say, Napalm Death, Cattle Decapitation, Age Of Suffering, Cannibal Corpse, Ingrowing, Repulsion, Terrorizer and Inert. 82/100 Ivan Tibos. |
