Review: CD

Witchmaster, including (former, current or session) members of Profanum, Supreme Lord, Hell-Born and Spinal Cord, undoubtedly are one of the filthiest bands from Poland. Five years after the self-called album, new recording Trucizna (meaning: poison) continues the path they were walking / crawling on (while raping some baby animals?), which gets finalised into half an hour of fast, rhythmic, up-tempo, perverse, sledgehammering Thrash / Black / Death Metal with a bloody edge of gore and anti-humanity. Murder, sodomy, porn, sickness, self-mutilation and -destruction, violence, war, humiliation, it’s just a short list of subjects that are well-incorporated within both lyrics and musical (ha-ha, what’s in a name) approach. The sound, but also the song structures, are inspired by the old school, the tempo is mainly speed-up (but with more slower parts than before), several pieces are injected with a Punk-mentality, and a certain groovy level of Rock’n’Roll-driven power cover the tracks with venom and acid. Forget every skull-crushing possibility to reach a modest niveau of originality: it is not (not once!) renewing! But: barbaric-decently performed!!! Almost everything fits (sound and production, instrumental and vocal interaction, atmosphere), even the artwork is correct.
