Band : Europe Latest effort from the guys from Europe, their third already since their reunion in 2003, and, matured as they have, they still more or less continue in the same style as 20 years ago. Highlights on this album are without a doubt the title track "Last Look At Eden", and "No Stone Unturned", which not only relies on the musicianship from the band members themselves, buts also is supported by some classical instruments. Oh, and did I mention that the keyboards in the middle of the song are really really superb. Another great song to mention is "New Love In Town", a perfect ballad.
Now it is a certainty they will never reach the fame and success they had in the eighthies, "Final Countdown" era, for that the musical scene has changed too much. But you cannot deny that at least they try to bring out some fresh sounding material, even when harking back to their roots. What is worth mentioning is that in certain songs Joey's voice sounds real bluesy, something that he probably wouldn't have dreamed of. Nor would the fans have liked it I'm afraid of, at least not in the beginning of their career. To cut the story short, tThese guys are like a good bottle of wine, growing better with the years. 92/100 Erik Morren. |
