Band : Nim Vind Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Nim Vind is both the bandname of this truly wonderful Psychedelic/ Horror “Punk”/Rock band, as the homonym of its frontman/ mastermind (whom not only sings, but also plays guitar, the occasional theremin, piano, and organ). Other members of the band being guitarist JJ Blood Boy, bassists Ian-Sin-Diary & Robbie K. (the latter also bringing live backing vocals) and drummer Anthony Kilz. No specific idea when exactly the band was founded, but at the end of 2007 the foursome already its debut full-length Fashion Of Fear. And with such diverse influences comprising The Misfits, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Bauhaus, D.O.A., Suicidal Tendencies, Lords Of The New Church, Marilyn Manson, Iron Maiden, David Bowie, Megadeth, Metallica, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Johnny Cash, The Damned, Danzig, Motörhead…the list goes on (for the complete list, consult myspace.com/nimvind), but what you’ve got to keep in mind is that, although this band’s musical roots lay mainly in good ol’ Punk Rock, you’ll get occasional fringes from Metal, Rock ‘n’ Roll, influences taken from such comic books as Batman, Spiderman, Punishher, Wolverine…to make for a very varied Horror/Psychedelic Punk Rock indeed! To get a real good idea of hów diverse that is, you really ought to listen to the whole album, but the material (4 full-length tracks off the debut & samples of 5 tracks on the new one) posted at the band’s Myspace page will already give you a fairly good idea! In Europe & the UK, the album got a flying promotion, as the first 1,000 copies to be sold would come as a limited 2-CD package (including the original promotional version of debut album…making for a total of 23 tracks). On top, the Euro version gets a bonus track! Good stuff, or rather: great stuff! Regretfully, this album got stuck in a backlog pile due to our editor-in-chief needing to take off time from the website in order to concentrate on his job as a label representative (for two labels!) during the first Summer months…which means that by the time you read this Nim Vind will most probably already have flown back to Canada after a European tour (actually it only had dates in Germany and the Czech Republic) with Blitzkid and Swedish labelmates Psychopunch. No idea when they would be coming back! 90/100 Tony. |
