Whereas their first previous albums were firmly rooted in desert rock n’ roll,  Dali’s Llama ninth album Howl Do You Do? marks a significant change. The band's stoner punk rock leanings are still audible here, but only noticeable in a few places, though. Really, this disc is the culmination of all the funwork the group have invested in trying to steer their sound towards a more swampier, 60s garage rock and southern voodoo style.

Lead track “Flustrated” is an exciting garage rocker, featuring rumbling solos and a steady beat. Check the nasty Fuzztones-organ on “She’s my helloween” or the swirlingly greasy mindwarp of the Captain Beefheart-like title track.. “Flash flood, flash flood” is another great 'stick in your head' melody rocker that has a bit of a Baby Woodrose influence. “I’m the trouble” got my toes tappin' with its raw slide guitar and screaming echoed solos. “Hortense”, “Masochist” and “You can be my zoo” are crunching, southern tinged rock-outs with just the right amount of bogginess. The vocals are perfect for the sound having enough melody to carry the songs, but also having a good amount of gritty attitude to make the sleazier parts all the more convincing.  The longest Deep Purple meets Grand Funk jam “Plaid rainbow” is one slamming number with some really low down and mindblowing, with emphasis on blowing, guitar solos that are tough and pleasant.

Also very cool Dali Llama’s artwork by Sean Mceleny.
