ReinXeed is a power metal band with symphonic elements that was formed in 2004 by vocalist Tommy Johansson. It all started in a town called Boden in the North of Sweden when Tommy got the idea that mixing Melodic power metal with movie soundtracks would be very cool music to compose and record. So the man got his own studio together, started to record songs with a better quality, and put them up on his Myspace site.
And by doing so, the ball started rolling. He got in touch with other musicians that shared his visions and just a bit later, the band was born. Tours followed quickly and the band got the habit of releasing an album each year. This year the band released the album called “Majestic”.
Now I’m a fan of metal and a fan of movie soundtracks, so the idea of combining them sounds awesome. But unfortunately the symphonic power metal elements don’t work all the time on this album. Although it says symphonic power metal, you still hope for some cool and heavy brutal tones and riffs. Unfortunately the band went the other way and went for a more softer approach, witch isn’t a bad thing but will disappoint a lot of people who look forward to this kind of concept. Apart from that, the music is original and well composed/written and performed.
