Erol Sora is a name that didn’t immediately ring a bell, so I started googling a bit.  When I found out that he’s actually been playing guitar in the John Lawton Band.  Since John Lawton is the vocalist in Uriah Heep, I’m not surprised that the style of this CD harks back to the eighthies style.

As am atter of fact this is already his second solo album, since the predecessor “Demented Hour” came out in 2006.

Being influenced by bands like Whitesnake, UFO, Rainbow, and as a guitar player influenced by Blakcmore, Sykes and Schenker, it’s no wonder the songs on these album are in the genre of bluesy guitar orientated hard rock.
Although not a superb vocalist,  Sora puts on an admireable performance, his voice really suits the songs. The guitar work on the other hand is really good. The songs themself, although not bad, are not catchy enough to my liking.  After two spins I couldn’t really say there was one song that stayed in my mind.  Maybe with another vocalist, or working together with a choice of vocalists, it would have been otherwise.
So my final conclusion : it’s not a bad CD, but with the abundance of material that’s coming out lately I would not put it high on my list of the must buys.
