Review: CD

The Swedish horde Die Hard was formed in 2005 with one goal: to pay tribute to the sweet filth of the old school! This is a fact I do appreciate in advance! The band is named after a Venom track, so this might be a subtle characterisation???

As a matter of fact, Die Hard do it with honour and pride. Their former efforts (demo + two EP’s / MCDs) brought a raw and sleazy mixture of eighties Thrash and Death Metal with a Black Metal edge, and this also goes for the first full length recording, Nihilistic Vision, which lasts for about forty minutes. Nihilistic Vision indeed brings rough, unpolished underground-oriented Metal with a grim atmosphere and a psychotic sound. And what’s more, the band combines elements from bands as Bathory, Bulldozer, Possessed, Sabbat, Venom, Celtic Frost, Carnivore, Desaster and Artillery, yet at the same time they do have an own approach, an own sound. Most of the time, the tempo is fast and rhythmic, and the no-nonsense approach interacts well with some technical riffs and solos.

The studio duties were taken care of by Teddy Möller (Loch Vostok, Wuthering Heights, Flagellation, F.K.Ü.), the mastering was done by Tore Stjerna (Watain, Tribulation, Vanmakt, Repugnant, Sathanas).
