Band: Infinite Horizon Infinite Horizon were originally formed in 1997 and have always had a constant line-up, with only one exception - a new drummer joining the ranks in 2000. In mean time the members played many live gigs with important acts as Korpiklaani, Rob Rock, Annihilator, Hatesphere or Agathodaimon, and after they signed to the famous German Heavy / Power / Folk-label Black Bards Entertainment, things went better and better to the sextet. Dominion, the second studio release on BBE (after the 2008-full length Soul Reducer), was recorded at the Turnip Studios with producer Frank Buchen (of Jesus On Ecstasy-fame), and mastered by Eroc (Ancient Rites, Liar Of Golgotha, Danse Macabre etc). And I need to say that this album is a huge step forward, an enormous progression! I wasn’t that flattered by Mind Passages or Soul Reducer, but this time the band goes further, much further. Dominion certainly is the heaviest Infinite Horizon recording to date, less progressive yet still balancing on the edge of experiment and transgression. The tracks still are catchy, but more than before the groove behind every single track hammers and batters. Every song is symphonic as well as epic, melodic, emotional and powerful, and in comparison with the past they are less predictable and less over-produced. Almost fifty three minutes of Heavy / Power / Epic Metal, for fans of Nevermore, Savatage, Symphony X, Brainstorm and Evergrey. 75/100 Ivan Tibos. |
