Band : Centurions Ghost No remorse and no regret is carved in the minds of all those taking part of the extreme metal ways of impressive UK doom/sludge outfit Centurions Ghost. All of the elements that made Centurions Ghost’s previous two outings such a noxious joy are present and encountered for. The melodies running through all the brutality on brilliant opener “Powerful Sense Of Dread”, and the variation on second track “ Blessed and cursed” just that within the album's first few minutes. What's more impressive is that hardly a track goes by without a couple of memorable, distinctive passages; the album is a joy to listen to, and delivered with great impact and you are thrown into the best components of doom, sludge, thrash, nwobhm and a little bit crust. If anything, they’ve upped the rage to even greater levels. The band just totally delivers with thunderous numbers like “Powerful Sense Of Dread”, “IV Stronghold” , “Wizard Of Edge” and “Temple”. From growls to barks topped off with some severe screaming, the vocals of this band by Mark Scurr who does an outstanding job giving voice to the extremity of the band and match the intensity this band carries. So, vocals are growling yet expressive, the mix and production are raw and very good, Centurions Ghost may not be doing anything especially novel, but Blessed And Cursed In Equal Measures features such strong material, performed so well, that it doesn't feel the least bit derivative or insincere. 93/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
