Band : Crystal Viper Yet another "live" album. But here's one where the flag only half covers the cargo, because in truth you get only the intor + 5 songs that are really "live". The other 4 songs are not live, and I really don't understand why they were put on this CD. Either you release a live album, or you release a studio album, at least nowadays with CD's you do. Back in the dark ages when all that existed was vinyl you'd have put the live material on one side, and the other material on the other side. Some info about the band : they formed in 2003 in Poland, and are female fronted. So far they've only released two real studio albums and a best of (?), and a third studio album is on it's way. I find that either you've got big balls to release a live albums after only two studio albums, either that, or your music is that fantastic that you're entitled to do so. I'm afraid the latter is sadly enough not the case. They had better waited a while longer. Hey, after all, even Maiden's first official live album took a while. Now my judgment may be wrong. I didn't have the chance to listen to their studio albums, so I'm just judging on this album, and of course recording and producing a decent live album is one of the hardest things to do, so for Crystal Viper fans I'd say make your own judgment about this, and don't let me mislead you. At least the artwork is fantastic. Musically it's not bad, but you don't really get the feeling that the performance was sensational. Either that or the public was too lazy to react. On top of that Marta Gabriel sometimes seems to get too carried away, and loses it. Conclusion : not an album I'd spend my money on. I'd rather wait for their next studio album and see what that brings. 65/100 Erik Morren. |
