Band: Danzig Danzig is an American “shock punk/ blues/ metal” band, formed in 1987 in New Jersey, U.S.A. The band serves as a musical outlet for the creator, singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig. This project can be seen as the third stage in Glenn Danzig's musical career, preceded by Horror punk acts like The Misfits and Samhain. The strength of Danzig's material has always existed out of two things. Being the primal blues based metal and his powerful mid-range vocals you can recognize everywhere and anytime. Now the strength of this album lies in the way the songs build up over time. I got the feeling after a couple of songs. The first few weren’t that appealing to me, but after a couple of songs, I got more interested in the music an d at that moment I realized that the man was going somewhere and needed those first few songs to get there. What is pretty clever when you realize most albums these days have the best 3 songs at the beginning of the record and the rest are basically space fillers. Best song (for me) on this record was “Rebel Spirits”. This album is for fans and people who like Type o Negative (as it’s the same drummer). Definitely a must have. 97/100 Jeroen. |
