CD REVIEW Drive She Said

Release date : 21/05/2010
Release : CD

Although already existing - with some periods of inactivity in between the years - since 1988, this is only the sixth album by Drive She Said, and even then it's not really a new album, since this is more of a compilation with greatest hits, with some new tracks - 5 in total if I'm correct - thrown in as well.

If you know the band I think not much further explaining is needed. For those who don't know the band here's some info.  Drive She Said really had, and still has, only two full time members, Mark Mangold (keyboards) and Al Fritsch (guitars/ vocals). The music they make is top notch AOR, as good as it gets. The "new" songs on the album are in fact two really new songs written by the band, "Dreams Will Come" (actually written on the evening of the Firefest gig), and "Try To Let Go (FukUUP)" (think Extreme - so Funk Metal), a reworking of a Touch classic “Don't You Know What Love Is", and Drive She Said's version of 2 hits Mark wrote for other people : "Fool's Game" for Michael Bolton and "I Found Someone" which was a big comeback hit for Cher.

If you liked Drive She Said in the eighthies, but just were not able to find a copy of their first two albums, then this is a great chance to get at least some of that material on CD.

80/100
