Band : Neverdream Neverdream's second album after their 2008 release Souls - 26 April 1986 and their 2006 debut album Chemical Faith, and just like the two former albums, which were concept albums about Christiane F. and Chernobyl, this one is also a concept album…about Africa this time. Now I do like progressive metal, but this album did not appeal to me. It lacks some sort of consistency, and on top of that they incorporate to many other musical styles into their music. Musically it's all correctly played, but as I mentioned, it lacks coherence, even for a progressive album. Besides of that the vocals are their weakest point. I almost don't hear any real "singing" in these songs. Mostly it's some kind of speaking you hear, with or without an effect on the voice. Maybe if you heard this album song by song it might work, but 7 songs - 65 minutes in a row is just to much. I'll give them credits for trying to find original themes for their CDs, and also for being good musicians, but maybe next time don't try to mix in to many other genres. 60/100 Erik Morren. |
