Review: CD

Agonia Records is such a label that has been specialised in mainly Satanized and rough Black Metal superiority. The label also houses blaspheme Death Metal bands, yet on its rooster there are some exceptions. Negative: the core business gets weakened by widening the audience. Positive: because some open-mindedness won’t hurt anyone. In the case of Beissert, however, I’m really disappointed.

The Pusher, which lasts for over fifty minutes, opens rather promising. The opening title track brings a mixture of Thrash, Heavy, Black and Death Metal, with several tempo changes (even an acoustic part), an ultra-heavy rhythm, fiery solos and technical excellence. Next song, the Doom/ Thrash/ Hardcore/ Sludge/ Prog/ Seventies pusher “Die Dunkelheit Uns Mit Sich Nimmt, is of a nice quality too, albeit completely differing from what we’re used from Agonia. Yet as from Die Fabelhafte Welt Der Agonie” (were you trying to suck Agonia’s dicks with this title, you guys?), a short instrumental nitwit, I lost it. Technical and progressive experiments within a sleazy Hardcore/ Thrash/ Rock/ Groove/ Sludge-based cocoon, including a pathetic MTV-ish silliness, no, I give up. Trying to add mathematic precision, well, ‘trying to’ does not mean you succeed to do so, unfortunately. How childish… Adding elements of Pop, Punk, Funk or eighties Metal is a nice try, but try again (or not)… Besides the worthful opening track, also the ending song, “Gedanke & Erinnerung”, stands out. That’s why this album isn’t a complete failure – honour and honesty to the truth…

Look how mean I am. I have a guitar, I do look arrogant and I’m drunk, so now I’m a Rock musician…
Sorry, in my world you’re not(hing)!

55/100
