CD REVIEW Deep Purple

Band : Deep Purple
Album title : Singles & E.P. - Anthology '68-'80
Label : EMI
Distributor : EMI
Release Date : 09/04/2010
Release : CD

This album could just as well have been called Deep Purple - Greatest Hits, since most of their hits like "Child In time", "Smoke On The Water", "Speed King" and others feature on this album.

For someone who does not own a Deep Purple album this might be an ideal chance to buy some sort of compilation of their best work between '68 (Jezus, are they that old?) and 1980. Not only do they in this way get most of their hits during that period, but they also get some rarities like non-album singles, alternate takes and so on. So if you want to buy a Deep Purple album, this seems good value for you money.

I really do not think much more needs to be said, neither about this album, nor about the group itself.  If you've never heard of them before, I wonder under which rock you've been hiding, since they are one of the founders of our beloved genre, together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

90/100
