Band: Inquisition The great American label Hells Headbangers Records released/ releases many excellent new recordings from well-known and rather unknown international bands, yet they are also responsible for some fabulous re-releases. Think for example about the Cerekloth mini-album Pandemonium Prayers (posted right here) or Bestial Mockery’s official debut full length (posted on June 13th, 2010), to name but a few. Another highlight is the first-time mastered re-issue of Into The Infernal Regions Of The Ancient Cult, the astonishing debut full length by Colombian Cult formation Inquisition. Originally this album was released in 1998 and it certainly was/ is one of (my) favourite albums from the nineties coming from South America. Into … brings an extremely grim, freezing form of underground-ish Black Metal Supremacy, fantastic in its primitivism. Most hymns vary from slow to mid-tempo, and a few times the tempo speeds up with fury and warlust. The sound stands miles away from modern over-production and in this case it simply fits. Imagine this album done at a clinically well-polished studio??? It won’t work, will it? Remarkable are the vocals, somewhat comparable to the east-European (and more specific the Hungarian) scene, dwelling within the same regions as, let’s say, Mister Csihar (you know…) or Mister Nagy (Sear Bliss) – yet with a specific approach. And yes, this voice is the purest expression to Inquisition’s demonic and Luciferian evilness. In spite of the nineties-approach, this album is a timeless milestone and because of the hard-to-find status, we need to bow our heads with love and obeisance to HHR for making it available again! 95/100 Ivan Tibos. |
