Band : Kissin' Dynamite Oh no, I thought, upon hearing the first lyrics on this CD, do I really have to endure this ordeal to the bitter end? With lyrics like "We are addicted to metal, we are addicted to steel", and that already in the first song on the album I was wondering how this would continue. Not that musically it's bad. OK, they repeat each and every cliché, and therefore are not very original, but at least the musical performance is not bad. But you must admit it's very cheesy, and, I must admit, at some point or time even catchy. As a matter of fact this is already the second album these guys have made under the name Kissin' Dynamite, since they were originally called Blues Kids and brought out an album under this name as well. After the first three songs I thought I'd heard enough, but strangely enough then comes the fourth track, a cover song, "High Enough", originally written and played by Damn Yankees, and I confess, I even liked this song. Vocalist Johannes Braun manages to get away with it. But then the story continues as before. Music : no problem, ok, even if it's not original. But my oh my, the lyrics. It's like they've programmed a computer to locate each and every line that's got something to do with metal, iron etc. and amalgamated this into some songs. That, or the lyrics were written by a six year old. So, if you want to listen to a good stereotype metal album, without pondering about the meaning of the lyrics, you're in for a treat. Put this CD on, with the stereo on 10 and switch of your brains, and you can happily start banging away. That's why this record still gets a fairly high score. 75/100 Erik Morren. |
