Perhaps the best way to describe the sound of Marulk is to imagine early Dozer if they were heavily Faces/Status Quo influenced. If you can imagine that sound, and if you think you'd like it, then this bunch of partyboozers might be right up your alley. It's pure glamarola with no frills, no edgy alternative angles and no apologies.

It's not as slick and as commercial as Status Quo, Slade or The Sweet 70s material, but it's got that vibe to it, while maintaining a grittier edge that owes a good deal to 70s heavy rock bands as Grand Funk, Led Zeppelin, James Gang,… The rhythmwork plays a supporting role, allowing the guitar to take centre stage where Thomas Jager fills the spot.. “Daylight and rain” kicks the album off but it's “The alarm”, “Hey sister” and “Foljer et spar”  that puts the album in motion. From there it's all high gear fun with “Nosferatools””, the happy Brant Bjork-like “I see you in my dreams” and “Slumber waltz”.  They incorporate the boogie woogie joie de vivre music style into their  music. But sometimes the music here seems to drag on and certain lyrics are often repeated over and over again and all that does get a bit annoying. Yeah, there are a couple of slow tunes that come close to being clunkers, but they pass by painlessly enough.

Overall, this is an okay album, with excellent boogie songs and some cheesy fillers. If you are looking for a fairly standard rock album, check this out.
