Band : Samsara Blues Experiment Christian Peters (keyboards, guitars, synths, sitar, vocals) is known already for his previous band Terraplane (read review Into The Unknown 07.04.2007 ) Here he has created another experiment with Richard Behrens (bass), Thomas Vedder (drums) and Hans Eiselt (guitars). The first track “Singata mystic queen” captures the albums vibe very well. Groovy bass lines, a fantastic raw rhythm structure, psych guitar- and sitar solos and floating left-middle-right vocals that all add up to a fantastic bong opener. The immensely hard driving and up-tempo “Army of ignorance” has a great Sabbath-ic rhythm guitar base that invites you to blast right from the first line. I simply love the free, wild and raw approach on the ten minute songs “For the lost souls” with Gus Chambers (Grip Inc.– R.I.P.)-like vocals and “Center of the sun” nicely balanced out by elephantine mushroom melodies. The 22-minute mystic mountain space jam "Double freedom” is one of those transportative tracks that open up doors in your mind with it's evocative and image-inducing sounds. We get the right mix of psychedelia, Black Sabbath style doom, instrumental prowess, and flourishes of more traditional raga music. I would advise any fan of Colour Haze, Causa Sui, Arc Of Ascent, Sun Dial, stoner, psych and space rock to check out.Samsara Blues Experiment. SBE will play at the fourth Yellowstock festival in Geel at Friday 13th of August with Ufomammut, Aqua Nebula Oscillator, Sylvester Anfang and Sardonis.
