Ach...Skunk Anansie...anyone having read the review (posted 03/01/2010) I did of their Nov. 2009 “comeback” album Smashes And Trashes may remember I have very warm feelings for this band...and if not, you hereby stand reminded!

The question whether this British band still had a reason for being around, is one I dismissed as being completely useless, and UK music fans reacted in kind by having the album rise to #74 in their album charts. Granted, that's not merely as high as the band's 3 earlier albums from the '90s, but then the music scene hàs not only changed a lot since the band's hey days, but also the economic crisis has not been kind to the music industry. At least the new album already did somewhat better, climbing up to # 58. Pity that neither of the singles off the previous album and this one (“My Ugly Boy” was released in July of last) succeeded in charting...until now.

The album is available in several formats: digital download, single disc 12-track CD, 12-inch double vinyl, and a CD/DVD digipak (the latter including the video to “My Ugly Boy”, a “Making Of My Ugly Boy” feature, a “making Of Wonderlustre” feature, and an almost 12-minute feature titled “Skunk Anansie On The Road – Festivals 2010”). say, by the way, as opposed to the album charts in the UK, the album faired much better in Belgium (#19 in Flanders, #47 in Wallonia), Holland (#12), Switzerland (#11), Poland (#9)...and even went up to #1 in Italy. As a whole, in the European Album charts, it made #35...making another example of the saying that a band always has a harder time getting appreciated on home soil! Well, I don't care how the British feel about this band, but I definitely feel they deserve better than what those folks give the band in return for these 12 real nice tracks!
