The Hamburg based band The Retaliation Process was founded in 2008 and just produced and released its debut album called “Downfall”.

The result of this band is a powerful and brutal sound finding its roots in death, metal core and trash metal. Not only in different genres can you hear their roots, you can find similar elements that they have taken from American bands like Lamb Of God or Machine Head. That’s a big compliment but due to their sound and their musicianship, I feel they deserve to be compared to such great bands. The album itself starts brutal with opening song “Uprising” and keeps that tone throughout the whole album (with the exception that they added some more melodic elements to certain songs and one acoustic song) to prove themselves.

This may be a brutal album, due to the fact that they wanted the whole album to sound brutal, they overdid it and you get the feeling that the album is very repetitive.
