Band : Alter Bridge This is actually the first album from Alter Bridge I ever listened to. So it was with no prejudices whatsoever I started to listen. The opening track starts in a very weird way, for a rock song anyway, but goes on to become a very catchy song, with strong, yet very harmonious vocal work. The second song “Isolation” kicks of with a bang, but after the intro the intensity of the song fades a bit, but just a tiny bit to be fair. The third song “Ghosts of days gone by” in one way or another reminds me of Nickelback, although I really cannot tell why. Although vocally Myles Kennedy does not exploit all his possibilities, his performance is sublime. As a matter of fact almost every song on this album is very catchy, and in a live performance I suppose many of the fans will be singing along. Since I have no idea what the two previous Alter Bridge albums sounded like I cannot compare this album to the two others, but although this type of metal is not usually my cup of tea, this album I really did like. Final remark about this album : I find it a rather “dark” album, but a very good one. 85/100 Erik Morren. |
