CD REVIEW Forever’s Edge

Band : Forever’s Edge
Album title : Chaotic Silence
Label : Nightmare Records
Distributor : Connecting Music
Release date : 13/07/2010
Release : CD

First album by Forever’s Edge, a new power metal quintet formed by members of Suspyre, Empyrion and Revolution Renaissance.

Now actually I personally find this album a combination between power metal, and influences from symphonic metal, sometimes even some prog shines through. Clay Barton (Suspyre) has a clear and powerful voice, with a very decent range. Guitar work is superb, and the keyboards are equally fantastic. Sharon MacPherson is doing the female guest vocals. Work on this album actually already started in 2006, when Salvatore Pisano started writing songs, but it took them some time to get it recorded. They are now writing new songs, in prospect of their second album.

I think this might please fans of Sonata Arctica, Statovarius, but I have my doubts this will become an album that will be remembered for long. Not that it’s a bad album, but with the multitude of releases in this genre, it might be overlooked.
