If you are looking for good AOR/commercial hard rock, then look no further and buy this, the debut album by Isabell Oversveen, artist name ‘Issa’, a stunningly beautiful girl from Norway.  Now it might be her debut album, but at only 26 she’s been around for some years, since she started singing demo’s when she was only 17.

Frontiers must have realized this girl had potential, since, what I’ve heard originally started out as a project that was looking for a singer, took another direction when they enlisted the help of some famous musicians, like Uli Kusch (Masterplan, Helloween) on drums and Peter Huss on guitar.  Besides that some great songwriters also contributed to this album, like Thomas Vikstrom, Daniel Flores, or Joacim Cans.  No wonder they put a lot of effort in this lady, since she sounds a bit like Robin Beck.

In total there are twelve songs on this album, all equally good.  Best songs on this album are ‘I’m Alive’ for which a videoclip was made, and ‘River Of Love’ and the fantastic ballad ‘Unbelievable’, which sounds a bit like Heart.  In the eighthies this would be the stuff that would get airplay (at least on American Forces Network).

I hope we’ll hear a lot more of this lady in the future,

95/100
