Band: Cumulo Nimbus Totensonntag is the third studio full length by German formation Cumulo Nimbus, created with assistance of producer / master / mixer / engineer Christoph Beyerlein. The recording is comparable to both former releases, what brings us to the identification of ‘Renaissance Metal’, for what it’s worth. More specific, it means that the band still combines (eighties-oriented) Traditional / Heavy Metal with elements from medieval music as well as Folk. This goes for both melodies / compositions and the use of ‘traditional’ instruments – think recorder, horn, violin, lute, fiddle, flute, mandolin. At the same time this material can please fans of material in the vein of, let’s say, Potentia Animi, Subway To Sally, Saltatio Mortis and In Extremo, yet also fans of Rammstein and Das Scheit at one hand, and Corvus Corax at the other may be interested by this material??? Sometimes hymnic, then again more classical or medieval-acoustic-folkish, the songs do differ, luckily. Total running time: 45:41 minutes. 70/100 Ivan Tibos. |
