Band : Shove It This Sambreville (a small town about smack in the middle between Charleroi and Namur in the French part of Belgium) based Metalcore band was started back in 2003, and the guys then in the band actually did record a 4-track demo titled in The Event Of An Emergency, but (like so many starting bands) the guys were having difficulties getting a steady line-up. In January 2008 singer Loïc Delval, guitarist/ backing singer Maxime, and guitarist Adrien started taking things a bit more seriously, and with the aid of new members Manix (bass) and Charles (drums) they recorded a new 4-track EP entitled Unnamed, which they released in October of that same year. In later years, the band has managed to get support slots with renowned bands in the business such as Caliban (one of SI’s foremost influences, alongside Parkway Drive, Underoath, Dagoba, Story Of The Year, As I Lay Dying, Metallica, Dream Theater, The Used, and more), Dagoba, The Tellers, L’Ésprit Du Clan, Eths, Joshua, Mypollux, Samael, Tripod, Arkangel, Aborted, Bloodshot, Suicide Of Demons, and many more influencial bands. At the same time, they also managed to get away from the small club scene, and playing at such respeced venues as the Coliseum, the Namur Expo, but also at Brussels’ L’Orangerie (Botanique). The band kinda looks at Forget About Tomorrow as their first album (I’m not sure whether they mean we’re supposed to look at it as their first réally serious outing, or whether they’re gonna give it a proper release!) with a new face, direction, and power…but apparently their line-up still hasn’t stabilized. With Loïc, Maxime and Adrien still firmy in place, the trio now find a bass player in one Migui, and at the band’s MySpace page there’s no mention of a drummer at this moment…even though they have plenty of concerts posted starting late Jan. 2010. Obviously, having a steady line-up would help the band considerably when getting in touch with record labels, and believe me, these guys are bound to make a killing in sales on the local Metalcore scene. And with the proper label backing, they might bring on quite an onslaught on the German market as well! What with the exciting hi-speed double lead guitar runs and the double lead vocal parts, the band definitely shows what they’re made of…and I, for one, am eager to hear more! You can check out all four of the songs on the band’s new EP at myspace.com/shoveitmusic, so there’ no need ffor me to go into any further details. If the above mentioned influences (as well as newly added “influences” August Burns Red, Bring Me The Horizon, Heaven Shall Burn, The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu…) are your thing, you need to check out the MySpace page NOW, then possibly also check out the band’s own website (shoveit.be) or pages at Twitter, YouTube, and Purevolume.com! Let me tell you, if this band can find a way to bring out their music on a broader level than just the demo stage, a nice future awaits ‘em. 95/100 Tony. |
