Band: Anger As Art Although American band Anger As Art doesn’t ring a bell to me, it’s a group with veteran experience dating to the original birth of the Thrash Metal genre. Formed in 2006, Steve Gaines (Abattoir, Bloodlust, Tactics, Bitch, Dreams Of Damnation, Pagan War Machine), Angelo Espino (Hirax, Reverend), Rob Alaniz (Evil Dead, Abattoir, Winterthrall), and Daniel Oliverio (Abattoir) got tired of projects failing, and in frustration released an 8 song demo entitled Anger As Art that made a big fuzz in the Thrash Metal underground.
Due to success, the band got signed with Old School Metal Records, reissuing the demo as a debut CD with bonus tracks. Later on, a 2nd full length CD Callous And Furor followed with a tour with old schoolers Testament, Hirax, Destruction, Overkill, Agent Steel, Warbringer, Fueled By Fire, and Bonded By Blood. Due to massive success, a third album couldn’t wait to be released.
And what did you expect. This is total brutal trash metal from the old days. To compare it would bring shame to it but if I had to give a name so you can place it among other bands it would be Testament. Now, to be honest, there is a slight dip in the middle of the album, but on their mission to take no prisoners, Anger As Art never lowers the bar for others. 86/100 Jeroen. |
