Band : Joe Satriani There’s very little we can say about the DVD that we hadn’t yet said about the CD-version of this live recording. Of course it contains the un-cut version of the night (not divided in two discs) and it’s also less edited, therefore lasting a good 9 minutes longer. Ooh, the visual thing…simply gótta tell you about the visual thing of the video! You see, although many songs are brought with the original lighting effects, there’s quite a few freaky things planted in…like stop-motion effects, extra colouring, “animation”, “psychedelic” stuff…making the DVD more than just a concert video! Also, the guy whom made the backside of the cover needs to take some additions lessons. As running time, he indicate 2 hrs. 15 min., but that’s not counting the 40-minute interview Joe did with that nice German lady, prior to the Mainz show. Joe talks about many things, about the European tour to begin with, his rapport to the fans, his song inspirations, goes back to the reason why he started playing the guitar, remenisces his family’s support, and much more! Hey, you didn’t really expect me to reveal évery topic to you, did you? I mean, part of the fun for yoù is gonna be to discover what’s on the tape! At any rate, if you’re a Satriani fan, you’ll find these 40 minutes well worth getting for yourself! Are they worth paying the extra dues to get the DVD in stead of the double-disc CD? Well, I suppose that’s really up to you! And I’m sure sóme of you will be crazy enough to get both the CD ànd the DVD! Tony. |
