Band : Phased Obviously this Swiss band has heard bands such as Hawkwind, Monster Magnet, Black Sabbath and Fu Manchu, as that's what they most closely resemble. There are some nice guitarsolos passages, which are always welcome. The main problem is that the band wears their influences too much on their sleeve. Which is not to say that they plunder from their sources, which they don't. While Phased’s contributions are not the type to floor any listeners, their songwriting is very strong and groovy and the riffing is straight out of the Dave Brock/ Dave Wyndorf and even Tom Gabriel Warrior-school of simple but devastatingly effective writing. The thing that gets on my nerves on A Sort Of Spasmic Phlegem Induced By Leaden Fumes Of Pleasure is the mediocre vocals. I would have enjoyed their music even more if they had searched for a better singer or reduced the singing sections substantially. 78/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
