Band : Soil Soil, hailing from Chicago, is a band that I'm not that familiar with, yet they already exist since 1997, and this is their fifth studio album. They're most famous for the singles "Halo", "Unreal" and "Redefine". However, since losing their previous singer Ryan McCombs (now in Drowning Pool) and their guitarist Shaun Glass their success seemed to fade a bit. Nevertheless they forged on, and found a new front man in AJ Cavalier, with whom they released the True Self album in 2006. This album was quite successful. This is their second album with AJ Cavalier. Sales however, compared to its predecessor, were somewhat off the scale. I mean, in the first week True Self came out, it sold 4000 copies in the United States, whereas Picture Perfect only managed to sell 1500 times over the same period. Over all this is a good album, but as with most alternative metal/nu metal bands, I find that they all sound more or less alike, sorry guys, but that's the way I feel about it. One track that stands out among the pack is "Surrounded". This is the track I did replay a few times. 68/100 Erik Morren. |
