CD REVIEW Taking Dawn

Band: Taking Dawn
Album title: Time To Burn
Label: Roadrunner Records
Distributor: CNR – Concreteweb Promotion Office
Release date: 26/01/2010
Release: CD

This is a tricky one to write about. You can hear that the band (named Taking Dawn) gets its influences from classic Hard Rock and Glam (maybe growing up in Las Vegas has anything to do with it) but on the other hand you can really recognize more modern elements that don’t give it that “heard it all before“ feeling.

The album itself kicks off really strong with opening song “Time To Burn” from then the songs are very variated and switch between different moods and tempos, but for me the album became better the second time I listened to it. At that point you’ll hear more details in the music. For me this isn’t a fantastic album, but just a good solid. I think the band can and could do more in an age where bands fight to be the fastest and most heavy sounding group, but I also believe that they will grow and we will hear a lot more interesting stuff in the near future.

86/100
