Band : Auras Auras is a band forms in the beginning of 2007 in Brasil, by Gui Oliver (lead vocals). But luckily for us rock fans this has absolutely nothing to do with samba...
Instead this is great AOR music, that can stand the comparison with most of the great bands famous during the seventies and eighties, when AOR was at it's peak. Imagine putting on this CD, and not having the cover or the booklet. You'd almost think you were listening to some unknown work by say for instance Journey, Survivor, or Toto, or a mix of the three bands together, that's the kind of quality you're getting by Auras.
So it's no wonder that Frontiers Records signed them, being the very first South American band to be signed by this label. If the quality of the songs and the musicians alone was not enough, to top it of the album was mixed and mastered by Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Khymera, Place Vendome, etc.) which means this album is top quality.Gui's vocals may be high pitched, I cannot say I don't like his singing. There are some songs on this album where he reminds me a lot of Steve Perry. It's difficult to pick out which track is the best on this album, as they're all very good. Definitely a must buy for all of you out there who (still) love classic, well written and well performed rock. It's a shame that these days, especially when Europe is concerned they get no or practically no airplay on the radio stations. Which is a shame really, because they deserve it. 96/100 Erik Morren. |
