Black Candy Store was born in October 2008 in France, after founding members Arno and Julien wanted to follow in the trace of bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots. After different adventures and albums together in other projects, they started writing their own material under the Black Candy Store banner and the band recorded their first album in August 2009.

Although recorded in 2009, the band only released it at the beginning of this month, and although we had to wait a while for it, it was worth waiting for. Although it’s more of a Rock band (in the way of Black Stone Cherry) and less heavy than I’m used to, the record brings a nice release with lots of variation on it. More heavy songs get relieved with softer and backwards. Although it lacks a bit of more sophisticated musicianship it still manages to entertain and groove. A well-balanced album that shows that the band has potential to make an even better album next time.
