Corsair’s Alpha Centauri is one of those nice surprises that occasionally cross a reviewer's desk. This is an impressive 5-track CDEP that has only gotten better with each play. It doesn't matter which track I pick out, they all stand on a really high level. The two guitars are the focus on this album, and nothing gets my blood pumping more than when everything slays. Vocally the band relies on singing rather than the shouting method which is another strong point. Paul Sebring and Marie Landragin drip honey vox down the microphone while they fly away on the guitars and fill the songs with infectious melodies and great solos at the same time.

During songs like the fantastic instrumental “Skykrakken” and “Beware, the black fleet” the Thin Lizzy influence on their guitar playing shines through.  “Beware, the black fleet” is packed with persuasive, hard-driving rock'n'roll with more than a touch of Kiss flavor that just fucking rocks. The rhythm section by bassist Jordan Brunk & drummer Leigh Ann Leary is also bold, and has its fair share of thunder & lightning in terms of mixing. I've always been a sucker for a heart wrenching ballad and “Last night on earth” is certainly up there with the best of them. The warm, melodic sound envelops you straight away and the lead guitar parts transport you to a higher plane before being brought back down to earth. Throughout “Space is a lonely place”  the tempo varies from Maiden pounding pulses to a more relaxed/mellow pace leaving you at the end out of breath. “Starcophagus” has stellar guitarwork in the form of well played solos that keep the tempo and interest levels up during the faster and slower parts.

This is music that I will never get tired of. Overall the music is always interesting, entertaining, melodic and never gets so complex that I feel lost or out of touch with it.
