Band : Shylock Already the fifth album from this German band since their debut in 2004. No one can blame them for not being productive enough. But do not expect a groundbreaking change in their music. They simply continue in the same vein, some kick ass pumping hard rock, very pleasant in the ear, and very catchy.
What is a minor point is that textually the songs are very primitive, but that's not a real handicap. Just put on the CD and start listening. As a matter of fact I didn’t really notice the text, as the music just feels good.
For a German singer Matthias Schenck's English isn't too bad, and, I must confess I do like his voice a lot. Even on the ballad "Sunshine vs. Rain" he gets the tone just right.
To sum it up, this is a great mix of killer tunes, with very nice guitar work by Johannes Amrhein. You wouldn't say this is only a four man band at all. Definitely another great release by Metal Heaven. 2010 Keeps on getting better and better with so many great releases already. 92/100 Erik Morren. |
