Soulfly is an American and Brazilian based metal band formed in 1997 and is led by former Sepultura guitarist and front man, the one and only legendary Max Cavalera, who created the band after Sepultura split in 1996.

Since than, the band has gone through numerous line-up changes, but the current line-up has been stable since 2004's album Prophecy and consists of Max Cavalera, Marc Rizzo, Bobby Burns and Joe Nunez. Typical about the band is that, they incorporate many styles of metal with Brazilian tribal and world music, but this can be found in other projects from Max Like Cavalera Conspiracy. And after so many albums and other projects, Max still knows how to surprise people. Opening track starts of with a big old school punk vibe like early Sepultura material to only surprise you more with track number 2 that brings a combination of Dark ages and Conquer. Each track is more brutal that the previous and are all filled with simple (but powerful) rhythms and face melting leads by Marc Rizzo. Brutal killer drums and bass tracks finished off with the seasoned harsh vocals of Max, and don’t forget the mandatory Soulfly track on the end of the album witch is a tradition.

Awesome, brilliant and killer are the only words that come to my mind. They did it again and now I’m even more stocked about seeing them this summer. One downside, the album feels short and only counts 40 minutes. Must hear track on this one is “Kingdom”
