Now here is a band that hardly needs an introduction. But in case you really have never heard of TESLA - then check out their official website (www.teslatheband.com) and discover their journey, which began in 1984, for yourself. When I first heard Tesla I actually thought it was Aerosmith (the voice of Jeff Keith reminded me very much of Steven Tyler but musically it didn't sound like Aerosmith at all). Over the last 25 years, from the 1st album Mechanical resonance till the new one Alive in Europe they have sold over 16 millions albums worldwide, making them a multi-platinum-selling rock band. Did you actually knew that with the release of their album "Five Man Acoustical Jam" in november 1990 they started the MTV unplugged trend of the early '90's.

Now I have known the band since their second studio album "The Great Radio Controversy"released in February '89.  Although I kinda lost track of this band during the last decade I think I can speak for a lot of Tesla fans when I say that The Great Radio Controversy is by far their best album. So it comes as no surprise that a lot of tracks from that album ("Hang Tough" , "Heaven's Trail", "the way it is" and "Lovesong") made it on Alive in Europe. Normally speaking I am not a huge fan of live albums but there is a first time for everything. It is a pitty that they did not put "Paradise"(also from the Great Radio Controversy album and my all time favorite track) on this live album. It would have made the difference between a fantastic and an orgastic album.

Now what else do we have on "Alive in Europe": quite a few songs from their last studio album Forever More (released october 2008): the title track "Forever More", "Breaking free", "So what" and "I wanna live". Like I said earlier I kinda lost track of Tesla, but they still proof they have not lost their magic. Over the years Tesla remained loyal to their sound. You either love it or you don't. Going further down the tracklist we have "Shine away " which is from the album "Bust a nut" from 1994 their classics "Modern Day Cowboy" and "Little Suzie" from their platinum debut album "Mechanical Resonance", "Into the now" & "what a shame" from the album Into the Now (released 2004), "What you give" from Psychotic supper from 1991 and of course "Signs" from Five Man Acoustical Jam.

For new fans "Alive in Europe" gives you a good introduction to the band and for the old fans I consider this as a must-have. Needless to say that Tesla was & still is a heavyweight in the international hard rock scene. I am already looking out for a new studio album...
