Band : Inbreeding Rednecks From Grindsted/ Esbjerg in Denmark, Inbreeding Rednecks (shortened to IR from henceforth, if need be) was founded in December 2008 when Synthetic Torture singer Jacob Bloch Pedersen, Frameless Scar guitarist Thue Schmidt, and Memorial bassist Rune Sinnbeck came together with guitarist Brian-Helge Jakobsen and drummer Mads Vetterlain (one of ‘em there is apparently also acctive in the band Imminent Collision, but I’m uncertain whom that is) to express their taste for brutal Death Metal and Grindcore. After only 5 months together, the quintet decided to record a sextet of songs in different studios (drums @ CB Studios in April, guitars & bass @ Norway’s Konfus Studio in May, and the vocals @ Hansen Studios, where one Jeppe Andersson also took care of the mixing of the material and its mastering). This demo was first released by the band itself in September 2009, not only sending it out for reviews on websites (and getting some nice responses in turn). Somehow (were they sent the demo? Did they ask for a copy after having read reviews?) the demo also landed at the offices of our dearest friends at Casket Music/ Copro Records, whom obviously made IR and offer they couldn’t refuse for the release of their label debut. Stylistically, IR upholds the Scandinavian tradition to bring a melodic touch to their music, but they definitely do it in a way that maximizes the music’s brutality! Nice up-paced guitar parts with technical play, sustained by a powerful rhythm section foundation, over which you’ll find Pedersen’s deep guttural voice, frequently backed with the same type of singing, bringing the band’s lyrics which are most certainly geared towards the Grind spectrum of Death Metal. I have no lyrics to back that statement, and it’s actually somewhat difficult to make out a lot of the lyrics with the singing style involved (except when you listen really up-close), but what else would you expect with song titles as explicit as “Robes Made From Virgin Skin”, “Cannibalistic Murder Rape”, and “Deposing Entrails”? Other song titles are “Corpse Molester”, actually the EP’s opening instrumental track that leads seemlessly into “Participate In This Extinction”. And with “The Art Of Revenge” you’ve had them all…song titles, that is! If you can stomach it (and don’t take this the wrong way, because I’ve always been partial to a bit of the most extreme music…even rating it on top of my appreciation list as I do not listen to the type music as much as I’d like to…but obviously there’s people out there who can’t, you know, stomach it), you can listen to “Corpse Molester”/ “Participate In This Extinction” and “The Art Of Vengeance” at myspace.com/inbreedingrednecks. Enjoy or steer away depending on your musical taste (but if you’ve bothered to read this far on, I’m sure you will enjoy…utterly enjoy what you’re gonna hear). Meanwhile back in mid April of last, IR announced to the world that their drummer would be leaving them in favour of concentrating on his Rock band (ah, would that be Imminent Collision, or another band he’s formed/ joined in the meantime?). I’m not sure if they’ve found a new guy yet, but if you’re a drummer of Danish nationality, and looking for a job with a very véry good Grind/ Death Metal act, maybe you should find out? Oh, and in view of my earlier remarks, are you really surprised about the rating of this EP? 98/100 Tony. |
