Review: CD

Two years after the mini-album Divine, German formation The Morphean returns with Enter The Illusion, which lasts for forty three minutes. And in the vein of that 2008-release, this album stands for firm and rhythmic melodic Death Metal.
The overwhelming songs on the album sound pretty modern, yet without any progressive influence. The straight-ahead interpretation comes with an atmospheric yet massive sound, and at the same time the songs invite the listener to dive into the abyss (read: bang your head). Some parts are rather catchy, others are more brutal, and this diversity is pleasant.
Yet even though I can’t immediately point any other German act, the whole has a painful heard-it-before-feeling.
Unfortunately, probably not strong enough to exceed the overcrowded masses…

75/100
