It's been 13 years since Y & T released any new material.  Although since 2003 they had become more active in the live circuit, up to now they hadn't been able to put some new material on an album, and fans had to contend themselves with two collection albums "Unearthed volume 1 and 2"
I discovered Y & T back in the eighties when I bought the "Earthshaker" album, an album that up to today still regularly finds it way to my CD player.  The following albums "Black Tiger" and "Mean Streak" closely followed. After the "Mean Streak" album I didn't follow their career any further.
Putting this CD on was done with some doubt.  I mean even if their live performances are still as good as before, why did it take them so long to write and record new material.
But after a few songs I my doubt ebbed away.  They still write and play great stuff.  It's not as ground-shattering as the "Earthshaker" material, but me thinks it's highly unlikely they will ever be able to write anything better.

With two of the original members under the form of Dave Meniketti (lead guitars/lead vocals) and Phil Kennemore (bass), and two long time members Leonard Haze (drums) and Joey Alves (rythm guiter) these guys still produce very good material.  As always with Y & T the album contains a good mix of fast paced, middle paced, and slow paced tunes.  As always Dave's guitar is the highlight of the show, backed up by a solid team behind him.  And as a vocalist he also still shows that he's still as good as before. If you've never before bought something by Y & T, then go out and buy this.  And then, when you've listened to this album, I'd strongly advise to order you a copy of "Earthshaker" as well.
