Band : Black Anvil Beep, Beep, Beep and more beeps on this cd..... These are the amount of bleeps I have to endure while listening to Relapse albums. New York’s hardcore veterans are back yet again with another sonic platter of amplified evil, a release that will probably please long-time fans. Triumvirate is heavily steeped in 80S/90s's death/black metal, which was a time when bands like Darkthrone, Bathory, Burzum and Celtic Frost were putting the genre on the map. During the faster sections, you can easily hear the Possessed influence in massive quantities. Although blacker as black, Black Anvil has a very crisp and full sound that emphasizes all their musical elements very well, without any one aspect being overshadowed. The music is extremely fluid and tends to lean towards a more majestic and beautiful sound than harshness of black metal. This is deliciously sinister stuff all around, and another winner for the Relapse roster. If black metal is your thing, and you like a mix of the raw/primal style with the more Wolves In The Throneroom/Nachtmystium-edge, then definitely check this one out. Peter Brems. |
