Monolith is a very clever instrumental blend of progressive, jazzy and post metal vibes that grows on you with each and every playing.

There are quiet, haunting and surreal moments that perfectly compliment the powerful, but not aggressive side of the music. Bless the rhythm section of one amazing versatile drummer Dan Elsen, and two bass players Josh Kinsey and Mike Crew,  they lay down some complicated rhythms and odd time signatures. The material is varied, with nice changes in dynamics, some catchy melodies, and even some outbursts. The playing is good, with some intricate parts in places, and no obvious flaws. The melodies the guitarists Adam Scarborough.and Chris Roberts choose are often not obvious ones, but they work so well and manage to make this album hugely memorable long after the actual listening. Tracks that are 5-10minutes, created with eye for detail, and totally understanding the art of restraining oneself, just to be able to burst into more power without ever losing control. Even though La Fin Du Monde’s music isn't extremely complicated or difficult it doesn't make them any less captivating to even the most demanding ears; the dramatic qualities and the patience they exercise in building their songs are wonderful elements of their style.

If you are seeking another instrumental post metal band in the vein of Isis, Pelican, Grails, Russian Circles, Unfortunaut,La Fin Du Monde triumphantly answers the request.
