Band : Lord Of The Grave Raunacht represents Lord Of The Graves’ first full length and worships at the altar of Sleep/Electric Wizard around the time of Dopesmoker and We Live, Raunacht features a total of five songs with a running time of nearly fifty minutes. Relies on a super sludgy sound and a snail pace; but miraculously avoid any dullness and remain interesting, “Ghost of the pyres” is so slow you can't help but think that if the speed was doubled Lord Of The Grave would actually sound like a normal stoner rock band. One track, “Raunacht”, runs well over the seventeen minute mark, is slow and crushing, yet it moves at a comfortable pace and never plods without direction. Rob Graves really can pull the doomstrings and aside from the excellent riffs, he is a very good soloist too. This is one of the better recent hazy doom albums and Lord Of The Grave has a dim future ahead of them (which is a good thing for a doom band). Peter Brems. |
