Wishbone Ash, Rush and Kings X fans will be able to mine ZZG’s rich seams of passionate, beautifully crafted songs till their minds are content. All comparisons are odious of course, and while ZZG have clearly been influenced by the best in the business, they unarguably have a signature sound. In this album’s 7 tracks you will find inspired compositions, both catchy and obscure moments, old fashioned sound and production (which could be better). Regarding their music, they have chosen to move between classic and prog rock and I must admit that they have done a great job! The songs seem to have immediate hooks that grab you with just a listen or two signifying that the band has some songwriting talent. Musically and melodically, ZZG have what it takes, and very obviously they know how to pen a memorable tune. Guitarwise, these guys write some smart two guitar patterns that have a lot of depth and intelligence groove throughout. Vocalist Daniel Roberts has a hit or miss voice that does not really have the charisma or range to carry an entire disc. I have seen him compared to a Aussie version of David Byrne and that is a fairly accurate statement. I don't like these kinda vocals which are rather soulless, very clinical sounding and almost monotone, but in general it's an easy listening album with a bunch of atmospheric melodies that travels you back to the 70's and the 80's.

ZZG has shown that they have the goods to be a noteworthy band.
