Fiction Plane is an indie rock band, formed in London in 2001. The threesome enjoys some fame due to the fact that singer/ bassist Joe Sumner is the son of Sting (real name Gordon Sumner), who amongst his 5 other children also has a daughter with her own music band (Eliot Pauline Sumner, who plays with I Blame Coco).

But Fiction Plane prove they can stand on their own legs and that they don’t need the help of a famous father like Sting, even though Fiction Plane has already toured as support act for both Sting and The Police. For their third full-length studio album, Sparks, the three members took their time to work on the new material and you hear a band that is working its way, which will undoubtedly result in becoming more popular and playing in larger venues. Of course, Joe Sumner is blessed with the same vocal timbre as his father and Fiction Plane will thus always be compared to The Police, but the powerful songs reveal enough quality to state that Fiction Plane seem to be ready for the big breakthrough. Sparks contains 11 songs and has a playing time of 44 minutes. Highlights of the album are the opening track “You Know You’re Good (La La La Song)”, the first single “Push Me Around”, “Revenge”, “Tommy”, “Humanoid”, “Zero” and the more experimental track “Russian LSD”.

From September 22nd 2010 until October 31st 2010, Fiction Plane undertake an European tour, with stops in the Netherlands, France, Spain, England, Austria, Switzerland and Germany, but there is no date for Belgium.
