Sevendust is an American metal band from Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.A.). The earliest band formation was formed in 1994 by bassist Vincent Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose and guitarist John Connolly. After a first demo, lead vocalist Lajon Whiterspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery joined the group. Following a few name changes, the members settled on the name Sevendust and released their self-titled debut on April 15, 1997. This record only sold 311 copies in its first week but due to touring and other ways or commercials, the album slowly earned a gold certification and new success on the Billboard.

Since then, Sevendust has released eight studio albums. Number eight and their latest at the moment is already a few months out. If you’re not up to date about the band, they sound more melodic and is more Hard Rock than Metal. Very soft and very commercial, but good for getting into Metal, easy listening music. For those who do know the band, this record is very similar to the previous albums, same style, licks and tricks, nothing new or inventive.

And although it’s nothing “new” it does sound like a solid thought through album and won’t be that bad in the eyes of new fans and people who can appreciate this music, but I think a lot of people will be disappointed.

67/100
