Having given you a thorough history-of-the-band at the occasion of the review (posted 18/06/2008) of this Los Angeles based Hardcore Punk (they themselves dubbing their music “TerrorCore”) act's previous album The Damned, The Shamed, that is at least something I can dispense with here...except for the update...which really limits itself to the band's crazy live performance antics! You see, this is a band which has been playing 300 days out of the year since its foundation! So, in case you're interested, as far as I know Terror toured the US in October and November of 2008, then crossed the Atlantic for a short European tour (during which they even made it to Belgium). After a short break for the Christmas season, the band was back on American back roads to play all over the place, taking time to also do some gigs in Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Canada. Then...oh cripey...there's more than a year's gigging missing in the band's past tour dates (nothing filed between late April of last year, and mid July of this one), so there goes the update!

Now when anyone comes up with a title like the one this new Terror album has, I tend to start feeling uneasy, as the term “Keepers Of The Faith” usually has to do with fanatic religious beliefs! Luckily, there's no religious connection where this band is concerned! Nay, they (and in the first place their frontman Scott Vogel) are in fact the forerunners in keeping alive the Hardcore values of the old days...but not without keeping it fun too! Hear one Terror album and you've heard 'em all, one might say! And those not into true Hardcore better steer away from the band's musical offerings. However, for those among us who àre into this kind of music and attitude, each album offers a new exciting chapter, a new collection of songs of the kind that never tires! According to Vogel (from the info sheet provided with our download promo copy of the album), the band poured everything they had into the new album (which also marks the band's 10th anniversary), from the layout to the title, and more importantly the lyrics and music. They wanted to capture the essence of Hardcore at its earliest days, make the album they were always intended to make. Well...I'm sold! I mean, the 13 tracks I've heard sure rip from start to finish, and not a moment where I felt there was a weak passage either!

So, the additional info bit (for those interested in facts): produced by Chad Gilbert (of New Found Glory – he also produced H2O), the album was recorded by Paul Minor (see Death By Stereo) and mixed by Matt Hyde (check Slayer, Hatebreed) at California's Buzzbomb Studio (in Orange County). Vinyl fans, know that Reaper Records simultaneously released the 12-inch (in fact, there was also a 7-inch EP preceding the LP in July...another one is to follow in early 2011). I promotion of the new album Terror startedtouring around the US again from June on, also taking in a couple of dates in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, and Colombia) during early August. By the time you read this, the band is on its way for a European tour (starts Sept. 17 in Germany, then goes to the UK, and the boys will be at Antwerp's Hof ter Lo on Sept. 26) with support band Everytime I Die. For more details about the dates, check myspace.com/terror, where you'll also find a couple of tracks off the new album alongside 4 full-length and 2 samples of older songs. Absolute top in the scene, this...an therefore more than deserving nothing less than a top rating as well as a year-list entry!

98/100
