DragonForce are an English speed power metal band from the United Kingdom that was formed in 1999 and was founded in 1999 by guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman under the name of DragonHeart. The two later founded a singer in ZP Theart and soon after acquired drummer Matej Setinc, bassist Steve Scott and keyboardist Steve Williams. DragonHeart then released a demo, but later founded out that another metal band that was playing under the same name already existed and renamed to DragonForce in 2002.
But several years and line up changes later the band received a lot of attention for their fast guitar solos, fantasy-based lyrics, and electronic sounds and their not so ordinary retro videogame sounds. But it was due to their insane fast guitar riffs, tricks and solos that the band got famous, due to songs like “My spirit will go on” and “Through the fire and the flames”.
And after a couple of albums, the band decided to make a compilation live album with all their hits to convert al the people who aren’t already a fan, or give the fans something they wanted for a long time. Unfortunately it doesn’t work out the way they intended to. Although a lot of that certain “live vibe” that is present, the sound tech at that concert could have done better and should have done a better job adjusting the volume of the instruments and vocals. Half of the time, you can’t hear the guitars and keyboards because they are overwhelmed by the vocals.
Nice if you’re a fan who likes to scream along with the songs, but for the rest of the metal listeners this could be a downer. Also this genre is not for everyone.
